A play by

“In this unusual play with an all-feminine cast, the author has employed a girls’ finishing school [in Boston, Massachusetts] as the arena for a small-scale Fascist movement. Evidence of a kleptomaniac among the pupils leads to the formation of a girls’ vigilante committee, dominated by an embattled teen-age Hitlerette, who quickly uses her power to persecute a less-than-one-hundred-per-cent-Aryan fellow-pupil [Lee Baron]. Since this bobbysox fuehrer [Drucilla Eldridge] happens to be the daughter of one of the school’s principal financial sponsors, the distraught headmistress [Sara Cantry] is faced with the problem of how far to carry appeasement.” – J Fletcher Smith, ‘The American Stage’, The Stage 2nd December 1948, page 6
