Shakespeare’s national identity myth has challenged audiences since it was first performed around 1611. Written as the first political attempt to create the United Kingdom foundered on the rocks of internecine violence, nationalism and xenophobia, we open Central’s newest theatre with a very contemporary staging from the team behind Central’s productions of The Rover, The Devils, Mary Stuart and The Suicide.
