Liolà
First performance in English in the UK of Pirandello`s LIOLA. Fabio Perselli both translated and directed this multi-racial production for Internationalist Theatre`s ( then known as New Internationalist Theatre founded by Angelique Rockas ) production of LIOLA,( financially assisted by the Greater London Council ) and performed at London`s Bloomsbury Theatre.
“This multiracial production emphasizes the contradictory aspects of Sicilian life:Passion Hymns are contrasted with the pagan voice of Liola and the vivid colours brighten up impoverished living conditions. His songs and wit bring joy , but not simply as a distraction from the realities ofsurvival; they defy the sourness of life and help to reshape its course” : From the press release written by Fabio Perselli
