The Cavern
UK premiere of Lucienne Hill’s translation of Jean Anouilh’s LA GROTTE, performed in repertoire with THE CHERRY ORCHARD, VOLPONE, WHEN WE ARE MARRIED, CHANGING GEAR and ‘OWD YER TIGHT. A version of this production, with all but two of the roles recast, toured from 13th September 1965 prior to opening at the Strand Theatre, London on 11th November [qv].

This was an Upstairs/downstairs type of play with a magnificent set showing both the gentry and the workers sections.
