Sara Standring’s Fringe entry is a personal account of the various types of fashion models she encountered while working on a well-heeled modelling shoot in Tokyo. Unusually for a one-woman show, Standring performs every role except for her own, leaving her heroine, Shelly, without a voice. Instead, Shelly is defined in negative terms by the characters around her, including the monosyllabic Russian Albina; motherly but pickled old-hand Danni; and chirpy but vicious Irish girl Shelagh.
