Trip to the Moon

This little known operetta (1875) has been cut to 45 minutes. Retaining fresh, absurd comedy and loads of Offenbach music, featuring a prizewinning group of Swedish performers and a purpose-built, acoustic theatrical-cum-musical instrument. ‘With puppets, ingenious toy machines, homemade instruments and songs, they tell the bizarre story of a trip by cannon to the moon. The huge musical machine is a joy to watch and it offers pleasure for the ears: it oozes, blings, snaps, whines, and sings. A totally original, slightly raspy and very fresh version of Offenbach’s light, melodious music’ (Arbetarbladet, Sweden).
