Why Me?
Michael Codron decided to close this production rather than recast two of the actors – Richard Briers, who’d reached the end of his six-month contract, and Polly Hemingway, who was pregnant. LOOK, NO HANS! (qv) was put into the Strand Theatre in its stead. (‘Polly’s baby puts paid to a new show’, The Stage 18th July 1985, page 2.)
