After six weeks of the nine-week pre-London tour, Frances Hyland left the cast in order to accept Tyrone Guthrie’s invitation to play Isabella opposite James Mason’s Angelo in MEASURE FOR MEASURE at Stratford, Ontario. (See ‘Chit Chat: Frances Hyland’, The Stage 11th March 1954, page 8.)

    My mother’s diary records her seeing this production, with Edith Evans, on Thursday 8th April 1954, so I think the start of the production date given is likely to be incorrect.
