Vampires from Venus
Review – ‘Space-Fiction Goings-On’, The Stage, 2nd August 1956 (page 10) – “The play is set in the study of Adrian Wolfe, a brilliant and noble-minded professor, on Exmoor in the year 2039. A group of scantily dressed Amazons arrive in a flying saucer from Venus to demand the surrender of the Earth. Despite their brawn, brain and ray guns they still have an eye for a man, and although the Professor remains aloof, he sees his dissolute son collapse and die after a two-minute session with one of these creatures. The Professor’s characteristically comical Cockney butler manages to lure a necessary serum from another of the girls, and the play ends with the death of Ericquaa, the merciless leader of the Venusians.”
The pseudonym Gustav Salou appears to have been used by both David Kirk and Dominic Roche (see THE HOUR AND THE WOMAN, qv) – but this play appears to have been written by Roche alone.
