With the same director and cast, this play was televised by the BBC on 22^nd September 1959. It originated as a Third Programme radio play on 26^th September the previous year, with Rupert Davies and Jack MacGowran in the same roles.

I saw this play at Bede College, Durham University, in 1961. Very effectively played and it gave me a taste for Alun Owen’s work. I hope there will be a production I can attend, or a television adaptation.

Having purchased a rare copy of the script, together with a provincial theatre programme, I was struck with the formidable speeches to be learned! These did not seem long in t he Bede College production, as the cast were so well into their characters .
