The Silver Sword

The Silver Sword was directed by John Sichel at the Leicester Phoenix Theatre. The book by Ian Surreillier was adapted by Romy Robinson. Several local children from Leicester took part in the production. The first night was interrupted by a strike by the backstage staff, which caused the audience to shout abuse, boo and heckle. The actors, who had not been warned beforehand, were gathered in one dressing room and heard the angry reaction with dismay. The reason for the strike was unclear.
