Miss Julie

“I have not seen a better production of Strindberg’s MISS JULIE than the Internationalist Theatre staging at the Sir Richard Steele pub, Belsize Park.” – R B Marriott, The Stage 2nd February 1984 (page 16)

This is the second production by what was previously called New Internationalist Theatre under the banner of Internationalist Theatre, founded by Angelique Rockas.

What was also unique to this production was the breaking of casting cliches regarding the part of Miss Julie, played by the short and Latin-looking Angelique Rockas. Jo Stanley of the Morning Star was impressed by the depth and “huge dimensions” that Ms Rockas brought to her interpretation of Miss Julie with her “original” performance.

This production is included in Michael Robinson’s AN INTERNATIONAL ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY OF STRIDBERG STUDIES 1870–2005 {see E12:1378 }
