Assassins

Sondheim’s darkly comedic musical admits us to a fraternity of Presidential assassins and would-be assassins, where ‘all you have to do is squeeze your little finger…and you can change the world’.

In the United States’ relatively short history, few have attempted the ultimate hit. Only a handful have succeeded.

From the very first successful assassination attempt against Abraham Lincoln by John Wilkes Booth, through to the infamous murder of John F. Kennedy by Lee Harvey Oswald, ‘Assassins’ examines the lives of nine individuals who have secured their place in the darker side of US history.

Sinister, disturbing, poignant, yet teeming with humour of the blackest kind, ‘Assassins’ examines the motivations behind these terrible atrocities, whilst giving an eerie insight into the power of celebrity in American society.

‘Some guys think they can’t be winners, first prize often goes to rank beginners…’
