Theatre of Cruelty

Theatre of Cruelty was performed by the Royal Shakespeare Company Experimental Group at LAMDA Theatre Club, London, from 12 January – 10 February 1964. A changing programme of works including The Spurt of Blood by Antonin Artaud, Typewriter, By Jove, Heathcliff and Spine by Paul Ableman, The Public Bath and The Guillotine by Peter Brook, Ars Longa Vita Brevis By John Arden, Scene by Alain Robbe-Grillet, and the Marowitz Hamlet by Paul Marowitz. The programme also mentions plays by Ray Bradbury, Alfred Jarry. was performed by ten actors. Individual play titles included The Spurt of Blood, Typewriter, By Jove, Heathcliff, Spine, The Public Bath, Ars Longa Vita Brevis, The Guillotine, Scene, and the Marowitz Hamlet.
