Observations
-
Much of the scene setting for this production was achieved by the use of gobos. As the production was transfered from the Watermill Theatre ,Newbury, and had been realized wih very little money, the gobos , had all been cut by hand, from old litho plates. After the transfer to the West End, many more gobos were required, many of stars, punched inyo the plates with a nail. When all of the lights were brought up for the finale at the dress rehearsal, the terrific heat melted large amounts of the gobos, and money was finally found to replace them.

The character of Woodstock, was a none speaking role, and was played by the actor, pupeteer and mime, Anthony Best, who had just returned from training at L’École Internationale de Théâtre Jacques Lecoq,Paris ,France.
Nightly, he gelled his hair into a Mohican, and sprayed it yellow. -
Teddy Kempner’s dog collar, as the character “Snoopy”, was in fact a goat’s collar, as it was wider than available dog collars. It was perchased in an agricultural suppliers in Newbury.
-
Kay Cole, the choreographer for the piece, had originated the role of Maggie, in“ A chorus Line”. During dull moments in the Greenroom, she would take everyones breath away, by singin, “ At The Ballet”
