Observations
-
After so many years, still one of the most memorable evenings in the theatre. Laurence Olivier creeping in at the corner of the stage, pilfering visitors’ hats to alter them and Joan Plowright, giving a majestic performance as his daughter, married to Frank Finlay, who was jealous of their neighbour, Dennis Quilley. She cooked a ragout on the stage, filling the theatre with wonderful smell. We had to go out for an Italian meal after the play.
