Pyjama Tops

Paul Raymond had previously produced this play on tour in 1956 under the title THE BED (qv). Bob Grant was the lead and Alexander DorĂ© was the director, as they also were here.

This production reached its 1000th performance on 22nd February 1972. (The Stage 2nd March 1972, page 17.)

‘The Swimmer’ appears to have turned into multiple ‘Swimmers’ about a year into the run.

Observations

  1. On 30th December 2022 at 1:18 p.m., PeterL noted:

A gossip columnist for The Spectator writing in the edition published June 22, 1974, claims to have learned that John Osborne, whom they describe as a “weighty advocate of serious theatre” is a “regular patron of the Paul Raymond nudie farce, Pyjama Tops.”

  2. On 15th February 2023 at 1:56 p.m., superclown noted:

there is a mistake in the cast line ups, I played the part of Leonard Jolly following Roger Kitter from May to October 1973, Chubby Oates followed me in Oct ‘73,
the part of George Charles during my time was played by Tony Bateman, the inspector was Roger Avon, Fiona Richmond was the female lead and Jenny Kenna was Claudine.
