The Egg
Producer Jack Waller died, aged 72, during preparations for this show, on 28th July 1957.
Waller’s uncredited co-producers, John and James Woolf of Romulus Films, had set up this production as a vehicle for Laurence Harvey, but he was too busy filming THE SILENT ENEMY to commit to it. (See Ernie Player: ‘Film Brothers Tackle the Stage’, Picturegoer 14th September 1957, page 7.)
Henry McGee took over playing the lead for three performances during the production’s final week, when Nigel Patrick was ill. (See The Stage 30th January 1958, page 10.)
