Duncan Lewis was here reprising the role he’d played for over a year in the West End production.
Peter Graves collapsed during the first Friday performance and was replaced the following day by Leonard Fenton, who had understudied David Tomlinson in the recently concluded West End production. Fenton would play the role again in October 1958, at Hornchurch [qv].
