Observations
-
One could almost say that author Bruce Walker was one of the first playwrights to precede John Osborne, Sheila Delaney and others of that ilk into the kitchen sink. He was more into the rough and tumble of crime and prostitution, and tried the patience of the Lord Chamberlain on more than one occasion. Here, we have a young Anthony Newley playing a bad boy and a young blonde Peggy Evans playing opposite him. Elwyn Brook Jones was the bad guy! Patrick Desmond (my father) worked with Bruce Walker on a number of occasions throughout the ‘50s and ‘60s.
