Of Mice and Men

By John Steinbeck

The best laid plans….

Based on his novel with the same title, John Steinbeck’s play is rightly regarded as a classic of Twentieth Century drama. Lenny relies on his smarter smaller friend George. George looks after the retarded giant Lenny. It seems like a practical relationship. Lenny, though, doesn’t know his own strength and crushes puppies when he means only to pet them and he breaks Curly’s wife’s neck when he means only to stroke her hair. Set against the backdrop of the Great Depression, this is a tense and absorbing tragedy that never fails to move its audience.
