    Torbay Express
The Unicorn Players had one of their best houses of the season at Palace Avenue Theatre, Paignton, last night, when they presented J.B. Priestley’s “An Inspector Calls". The always competent James Irwin turned in a first-class performance as the inspector whose shrewd questions reduce influential and self-satisfied family to the border of hysterics. One by one they eventually admit having contributed to a woman’s downfall end eventual suicide. The head of the family (David Fleming) quickly finds that his business and social connections stand for nothing in the eyes of Insp. Goole, but his wife (Patricia Ivey) persists in adopting a superior air until the detective makes his last accusation. Others in the cast are Neil Phelps, Sally Layng, Rosemary Crowson, and Peter Mallory.
