Observations

  1. On 1st November 2016 at 10:33 p.m., phoare noted:

I saw this (must have been in very early 1946 or perhaps 1947 – I had missed the family outing to the pantomime (at the Hippodrome) through having measles, and was taken to Treasure Island as a compensation. A brilliant production for a stage-struck young boy. The cast list doesn’t include Bernard Miles but I am sure he was playing Long John Silver – an acrobatic feat including using the galleries of the theatre as ship’s rigging, with actors climbing around on ropes and nets.

Am I right in remembering that the staging incorporated a re-creation on stage of King Street and the Llandoger Trow, very atmospheric? (I may be remembering “Christmas in King Street”, a Slade & Reynolds production that I haven’t found on this website. Can’t remember the date but probably 1950s or early 1960s.)
