Romance

This specific production does not yet have a description, but the play itself does:

A play in three acts with a prologue and epilogue.

In the prologue Bishop Armstrong hears that his grandson Harry is in love with an actress. Harry declares that the bishop does not understand his feelings but the bishop tells him of his own affair with an opera singer many years before.

The play proper is a re-enactment of the bishop’s affair and the epilogue returns to the bishop’s study and a bittersweet resolution.

A musical version called “My Romance” was presented on Broadway in 1948 but was not a success.
