The Yeomen of the Guard
Yeoman tells the story of Colonel Fairfax who has been sentenced to be beheaded on a false charge of sorcery. To avoid leaving his estate to his accuser (a cousin), Fairfax secretly marries a strolling singer, Elise Maynard, who agrees to marry this stranger on the promise of becoming a rich widow. Elsie is blindfolded during the ceremony so has no idea what her new husband looks like! However, Fairfax manages to escape shortly after the ceremony , throwing the Tower into confusion and Elsie into a dilemma!
