Empire Theatre
The last production at the theatre was “The Time of the Cuckoo” but two weeks before the theatre was demolished there was a farewell presentation “Highlights of the Empire”. It included scenes from a dozen shows presented over the theatre’s 60 year history. One of the show’s represented was the Empire’s first production “The Girl I Left Behind Me” with Edna Wallace Hopper recreating her original role in the 1893 comedy.
