Antonia Moss

Antonia Moss, was a child actress who attended the Corona Stage School between 1961 and 1965. As she was very small she played children until about the age of 25! Her first film was ‘Spare the Rod’ 1961 starring Max Bygraves and was partially filmed at Corona school and Shepperton. Her first west end stage show was ‘The Music Man’ at the Adelphi theatre in 1961 although she had already appeared in pantomime the year before when aged 12 in ‘Mother Goose’ at Slough which starred Rosemarie Squires and Eddie Calvert. Antonia also appeared on television in ‘Emergency Ward 10’ as Patricia Hare suffering from diphtheria. She next went on to appear in ‘Blitz’ at the Adelphi Theatre, when Blitz closed she was disappointed not to be able to go on tour with the rest of the cast as she was only 14, one had to be aged 15 to tour in those days. Antonia played many children’s parts in television series including ‘Merry-go-round’, ‘The Barnstormers’, ‘Badgers Bend’ ‘Dr. Who’ and also spent 15 weeks in ‘Five O’clock Club’. Antonia played Boy babe in the pantomime ‘Babes in the Wood’ starring Hilda Baker at Huddersfield, New theatre. Antonia also played Daisy Ashford in the Young Visiters at Bristol. She toured in a production of ‘Peter Pan’ starring Sylvia Sims and Ronnie Lewis in 1965. She played Little Red Riding Hood at Stratford East and performed in the late-night music hall at the same venue, she also spent some time at Bath Rep, but when she gave birth to her daughter Lisa in 1967, she decided to give up stage work and spent the next 30 years or so as a TV and film extra. As she was so small she often stood in for children. In her late forties she decided to go to university and catch up on her missed education. Antonia obtained a BA in Humanities and went on to take a PG diploma in Librarianship (information management) and now works for Hillingdon Libraries.
