May Whitty
Born Mary Louise Whitty in Liverpool
She married actor Ben Webster in 1892. Their first child, a son, died at birth and their second child was actress, producer and director Margaret Webster.
She was made a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1918 for her charitable work during the First World War and after such time was usuall billed as Dame May Whitty.
