Dan Jones
After graduating from Rose Bruford in 1967, Daniel studied with Jacques Lecoq in Paris for one year. In the summer of 1968, with Greta Stevens and Mark Furneaux, he did a two-week course with Ladislav Fialka in Prague. His first job was at Manchester Library theatre where he was director of mime for Hansel and Gretel. He worked in weekly and two weekly rep playing such roles as Mason in Journeys End, Uncle Sam in The Homecoming and Harold in Boys in the Band. He toured with Prospect productions in The Birdwatcher He also worked in film and television. Leaving the business in the late seventies, he taught English as a Foreign Language in Cairo, Damascus and finally at Yeditepe University in Istanbul. Stimulated by his academic study at Bruford’s, he acquired, by part-time study, a BA degree in Arabic, an BA Hons degree in Literature and an MA in Applied Linguistics. After retiring from the university, he returned to acting in 2013 working under the name Daniel Johns doing mainly film work. However, in 2017 he played Nagg in Endgame on stage in Kingston. He played George in the film Six Rounds which was selected for showing at the East London Film festival in 2016. In November 2021 he received a best performance award at the Under Five Minute Film Festival for the short film My Love.
