Gita Denise
Born in Prague in 1924, and joined the chorus of the National Theatre of Prague, later becoming a soloist. Married Thomas Vybaral, a former fighter pilot, in 1947, and they moved to London soon afterwards. A mezzo soprano, she joined the Carl Rosa Opera Company, playing leading roles, and later the Sadlers Wells Opera Company. She then began appearing as an actress in major West End productions. She also sang in many leading cabaret clubs as well as teaching privately. Her husband predeceased her in 1981, and she is survived by a daughter.
