Alick Johnstone
Born Alick Johnstone Southbear to Walter Southbear (1855–1924), artist, and Maria Mary Ellen née Barrier (1853–1920) of 60 Bolingbroke Grove, Wandsworth Common, Battersea, Surrey.
Married Ida Eleanor Wedberg (1893–1967) between July and September 1922 in Kensington, London.
Opened his studio in 1922, at 23&24 Macklin Street, Drury Lane, London, WC2, using the name Alick Johnstone.
Died leaving an estate worth £50,721, including two properties – Wood View, Perry Wood, Selling, Kent, and Flat 2, 38 Sussex Square, Brighton, Sussex.
Alick Johnstone’s studio (Alick Johnstone Ltd – Theatrical Scenery Painters) was wound up by the liquidators Ian Gordon Booth after the Notice of Liquidation was published in the London Gazette on 11 April 1969.
