Aletha Orr

My mother Aletha Orr was born in Peace River Manitoba , Canada in 1903. She was always keen on the Theatre and persuaded her parents to let her come to the UK in 1926 to study the arts at Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts. She qualified with flying colours. She was snapped up by Leslie Henson and appeared in a West End musical with all the glamour of the 1920’s. Later she switched to serious Theatre and as can be seen from the site in the 1930’s appeared with The Wolverhampton Rep for many years starring in plays. She met my father (Thomas Reynor) there and they marries in 1930. During the war she volunteered for E.N.S.A. and travelled the UK and overseas playing to the forces. After the war she appeared in many stage and screen shows with countless stars. She retired in 1958 and passed away in 1980.
