Valerio Martinez

I met Valerio in the late 1980’s who became my vocal tutor and friend for four years. He started his singing lessons with Eduardo Asquez in Portugal, who sadly died in 1998. Valerio lived with his five children in Arlington Square, London N1 . His wife, a previous accomplished ballerina at Sadlers Wells, sadly died suddenly four years earlier. We sang together at various open venues and lost contact in the 1990’s.

Valerio had an extraordinary tenor voice. His love of singing and teaching reached the hearts of many. Our first concert together was a great success and he lives in my memory as one of the most inspired teachers of the Bel Canto technique.
