Gary Dixon

Over the course of his 30-year career Gary first spent 11 years as Head of Sound in the West End on musicals such as Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Evita, Carmen Jones and the world premiere of Saturday Night Fever at the London Palladium.
Gary’s Sound Design credits include musicals produced both in the UK and Sweden where many were Scandinavian premiers. These include Shrek, Sunset Boulevard, Candide, Sweeney Todd, Next to Normal and Les Miserables. At home, he had a long standing relationship with the Watermill, Newbury where many of his shows toured the UK and two, Mack & Mabel and Sunset Boulevard transferred into West End theatres. He has also designed the sound for shows at the Opera Houses in Lisbon, Malmo and Gothenburg, mixed numerous BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall and three years of Pantomime at Colchester Mercury.
Gary worked on the London 2012 Olympics at the Excel Centre where he was one of the sound technicians who installed, maintained, and took out the sound systems for the 5 arenas in the venue. He has also designed the sound for large, multi-roomed, international corporate events overseeing teams of up to 30 at various European venues.
Along the way Gary has been fortunate enough to work with some of the world’s greatest artists from many different genres including: Sting, Brian May, Harry Connick Jr, Art Garfunkel, Engelbert Humperdinck, Gloria Gaynor, Ronnie Scott, Humphrey Lyttelton, Larry Adler, Andrea Bocelli, Evelyn Glennie, Charlotte Church, Elaine Paige, Beverley Knight and even the Monty Python team!
Gary has been involved with West Green Opera in recent years where his previous credits are a Little Night Music, Celebrating Gershwin, Cole Porter’s Marvelous Party, Candide and Guys and Dolls. In 2021 he oversaw the socially distanced solution of the performers on a lakeside stage with the audience spread out in marquees across the lake. This involved fully micing both the cast and orchestra for 4 different shows over two weeks to great critical acclaim.
