Kieran O’Brien

Born in 1973 Rochdale, England, he grew up in Royton (Oldham, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, North West England). He’s 5’ 9“ tall. Irish ancestry. He has hazel eyes. Kieran is a whole man – he’s intact and uncircumcised. It is not confirmed whether he has a spouse or partner, but there are some online hints that he’s been in a long-term relationship with a (fortunate!) woman since or prior to 2004. He lives in the London West End so that he can get to central London studios very easily.

O’Brien grew up in Royton (a suburb of Manchester in Northwestern England) and began acting at a young age and was the star of a BBC TV series ”Gruey“ by the time he was 15. He also featured in several other series at the time in one-off or recurring roles. In 1993 he played the role of Craig Lee in two separate TV shows, ”Coronation Street“ and ”Children’s Ward“. In 1993 he also became a regular in the detective series, ”Cracker“.

In 1999, O’Brien appeared in his first feature film, ”Virtual Sexuality“. He is featured in the 2002 ”24 Hour Party People“.

In 2004, O’Brien appeared in the controversial film ”9 Songs“. According to the Guardian, ”9 Songs“ was the most sexually explicit mainstream film to date, largely because it includes several scenes of real sexual acts between the two lead actors. His role is highly unusual in that he had unsimulated and very graphic sex with his co-star Margo Stilley, including genital fondling, female masturbation, with and without a vibrator, penetrative vaginal sex, cunnilingus and fellatio. During a scene in which Stilley masturbates his penis with her hand after performing fellatio on him, he became one of very few actors who have been shown ejaculating in a mainstream, UK produced feature.

O’Brien strongly defended the film during the controversy that followed, saying that he saw no problem with having sex for a film, although he wouldn’t do it with another man. Although the makers of the film insisted it wasn’t pornography, his sex scenes with the actress can now be found on some pornographic websites.

To date, O’Brien continues both his television and film acting careers. Recent appearances have been made in ”The Road to Guantanamo“ and ”Totally Frank“ as well as a reprise of his role in ”Cracker“ is currently on general release.

O’Brien was also one of the stars of the BBC’s police drama, ”Holby Blue“, appearing from the first ever episode until the third episode of the second series, when his character was shot dead. This makes him the only regular character to have been killed off in the series, not including Neculai Stenga or Mandy French.

For the English stage play, ”The Full Monty“, Spring 2013:

Kieran O Brien (Guy)

Kieran O’Brien was born in Rochdale, Lancs, and brought up in Royton in Oldham.

In 1993 he played the role of Craig Lee in ITV1’s Coronation Street and became a regular in Manchester-based detective series, ITV1’s Cracker.

He is featured in 24 Hour Party People, the cult 2002 film about Factory Records, ‘Madchester’, and Manchester’s popular music community from 1976 to 1992. Kieran played Nathan, the manager of the Happy Mondays.

In 2003 he appeared in The Cooper Temple Clause music video ”Promises, Promises“ and became notorious for claiming that he got ‘laid’ in the Millennium Dome in the making of the video.

In 2004, O’Brien appeared in the controversial film 9 Songs. According to the Guardian, 9 Songs was the most sexually explicit mainstream film to date, largely because it includes several scenes of real sexual acts between the two lead actors.

In a 2004 interview at Cannes film festival Keiran made the following statements on his performance with Michael Winterbottom’s film:

”People who have seen it, even though they are forewarned about how explicit it is, come out of the cinema saying … I can’t believe that it’s so explicit’.

“But if people ask ‘why make this film?’ I would say ‘why not?’ People who say they find it offensive are liars. If they say they find it shocking, I don’t believe them.”

”Pretty much everything Michael wrote, we did. The general consensus of opinion was to push it as far as we could. The only thing I wouldn’t do was have sex with a man – Michael suggested it but that was the only thing I wouldn’t do."

Fittingly, for an actor famous for sexually explicit performances (and behaviour!), O’Brien has been cast in The Full Monty as ‘absurdly over-endowed’ Guy.
