Cry

Site-specific examination detailing the true story of Palestinian poet, Ghazi Hussein, and the brutal attempts of worldwide governments, through repeated periods of imprisonment and torture, to crush his spirit and freedom of expression. ‘The Cry’ highlights the persecution suffered by artists across the world, who are, on a daily basis, beaten and humiliated for expressing their beliefs. An intense, moving and violent retelling of human suffering, created around poems written in prison in defiance of the very torture that was designed to stifle them. Ghazi Hussein now lives in exile in Edinburgh. ‘Life-affirming’ (Scotsman). ‘Near-flawless acting’ (List). www.badactheatre.com
