Audrey Lucas
born in London to the author and journalist Edward Verrall Lucas who was a friend and colleague of Arthur Waugh,publisher of Dickens( Audrey is mentioned in Evelyn Waugh’s diary several times).
Married actor Harold E Scott in 1928 and also wrote a play entitled Why Drag In Marriage around this time – it was staged in 1929 at the Strand.Audrey also wrote a biography of her father after his death in 1938.
Her 2nd husband was Douglas Clarke Smith, but this marriage also fell apart and Audrey was declared a bankrupt authoress.
