Victor E Edmonds

Born in 1894 in Clapham, London – Father, Victor Tchorzewski and Mother, Mary Anne Battin.

He worked as a secretary to a director of a Berlin gramophone company in 1914 prior to being arrested and interned in Ruhleben civilian prisoner of war camp in Spandau. Here he meets Sumner Austin, who is performing in camp concerts, and residing in the same Barrack within the prison, Barrack #10.

On release from Ruhleben in 1918, Victor spends a further 3 years in Europe before returning to England via Southampton from Vigo, Spain. He reunites with Sumner Austin at the Old Vic in 1921 and appears in several performances together including the Magic Flute in 1922.

It is here that he meets Kathlene ( Kitty ) Quixley, appearing with Sumner Austin in a performance of the Magic Flute the following year. They eventually marry in St Martins in September 1928 and have 2 children Victor Terence in 1931 and Douglas in 1939.

Victor E Edmonds dies in Sidcup, Kent in November 1979, aged 85, leaving 2 children and six grand children.
