Evan Tsitsias

EVAN TSITSIAS
Evan works as a performer, director, producer and writer. He recently produced “Bagged”, a short film he wrote for the CBC and screened at WIFT and DC Shorts Film Festival.

He has co-created two new musicals, Fear Knot and A Voice in the Dark as part of a research project with Ryerson University which he helmed as the Director/Project Manager. Evan’s first play, “Unstuck”, was a finalist in the International QPlays Competition at Compass Theatre in San Diego and part of the Foundry Theatre’s 2010–11 season. His play “Aftershock” won 3rd Place in the Impact Festival’s 24hour Playwriting Competition and premiered at the 2010 Summerworks Festival. It also received a reading at Magnetic North’s “piece/meal” series. He has also work shopped his piece “Strange Mary Strange” with Pat the Dog Playwright Development Center.

He directed and co-produced the Canadian Premiere of Edges for Acting Up Stage. Other directing credits include The Silent City (TO Fringe/Best of Fringe-Canstage) The Mercy Seat (Alchemy), Burn This!, Don’t Tell Mama, Vampire Lesbians of Sodom (Buddies In Bad Times) Chandelierva (New York Fringe), Perfect Life (Alleyway Theatre-Buffalo, NY), Kiss Me Kate, Anne of Green Gables, Cabaret, Footloose and Joseph and numerous Summer stock productions around Ontario. He has also produced the Canadian Premiere of Homebody/Kabul (Dora Nomination) at Berkeley St. Theatre, Talk Sixty To Me (Summerworks) and an Ontario Tour of Shirley Valentine.

Evan has his Professional Training Certificate in Theatre of the Oppressed from Cardboard Citizens in England and is a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab 2009 and 2010 in New York City. He is a member of the Playwright’s Guild of Canada.
