Basil Sydney
He met the American actress Doris Keane when they appeared together in the original London production of the play “Romance” by Edward Sheldon and they married in 1918. They appeared together in a silent film version of the play in 1920 and when Keane revived the play in New York in 1921 he made his Broadway debut in it. They divorced in 1925.
His second wife was actress and singer Mary Ellis.
His third wife was actress Joyce Howard with whom he had three children.
